The Greek philosopher Heraclitus’ declaration that “nothing is permanent but change” characterizes the challenge organizations and individuals face today.

The focus of TSL is to assist leaders in transforming their organizations, including their purpose and structures, so they continue to thrive in today’s changing world. The primary purpose of a transformation process is to design, implement and sustain an organization’s commitment to achieve the purpose it values most highly. The creativity of an organization’s people, combined with a structured process for planning and implementation, are essential ingredients for organizational transformation. TSL provides structured processes for this to occur and the people within the organization provide the creativity. The associates of TSL recognize four dynamic stages in the transformation process. They are:

Learning and Adjusting

Although the readiness stage and diagnosis is always a first step, organizational transformation is not a linear process. The dynamics of transformation demand that these stages be revisited, depending on the needs of the people within the organization, changes in personnel and other unforeseen factors that may arise during the transformation process.

Consistent with the mission and core values of TSL, all stages of the transformation process are characterized by:

• Inclusion of diverse people, ideas and perspectives
• Consensus decision making to ensure support for ideas when you move to implementation
• Long-term commitments to a common purpose over time
• Building and maintaining trust

As an organization, TSL views its clients as partners in the transformation process. We prefer to work with organizations over time, which allows us to gain a deeper understanding of its people and processes. We also believe that when learning is integrated into people’s real work, transfer of the learning is greater and implementation is more successful. We tailor our services to impact each organization’s real work, with the teams of people who own that work.
